Sausage-shaped Fold / Multiple Folds Correction

“ Unnatural double eyelids, reborn with natural-looking lines. ”

Definition of Sausage-shaped Eyelid
Sausage-shaped eyelid is a condition where the double eyelid line appears thick and unnatural after surgery. It is called 'sausage eye' because it protrudes in a round and thick shape, resembling a sausage.
why

Causes of Sausage-shaped Eyelid

1. When the double eyelid line is set too high

  • Increased amount of skin and soft tissue below the double eyelid line
  • The thicker the eyelid skin, the higher the risk of sausage-shaped eyelid
  • Inappropriate height setting relative to face shape and eye structure

2. When the double eyelid fixation is too high

  • Limited range of motion of the eye-opening muscle
  • Eyes appear drowsy and the double eyelid looks excessively thick
  • Decreased function of the levator palpebrae muscle

3. When the double eyelid fixation is too low or shallow

  • Insufficient fold in the double eyelid line even when eyes are fully open
  • Appearance of thick, heavy double eyelid
  • Skin sagging below the double eyelid line
Definition of Multiple Eyelid Folds
Multiple eyelid folds refer to the formation of several layers of creases rather than a single clean double eyelid line, creating an untidy and unnatural appearance.
why

Causes of Multiple Eyelid Folds

1. Congenital Multiple Eyelid Folds

  • Born with multiple crease lines by nature
  • Anatomical structural characteristics of the eyelid

2. Multiple eyelid folds due to failed eyelid surgery

  • Inaccurate line setting from previous surgery
  • Formation of multiple lines due to failed adhesion release
  • Limitations of surgical technique

3. Multiple eyelid folds due to aging

  • Eyelid skin naturally thins with age
  • Decreased skin elasticity and sagging
  • Gradual reduction of upper eyelid fat

Correction Surgery Methods

The surgical method is determined by the amount of excess eyelid skin in each patient.

A
When there is sufficient excess skin (Single-line scar)
Only one scar line remains on the eyelid
Skin excision between the existing line and the new line
  • • Skin excision between the high double eyelid/multiple fold line and the new ideal line
1
B
When there is insufficient excess skin (Dual-line correction method)
Two scar lines remain on the eyelid The existing line gradually fades over time.
Incision of new double eyelid line
  • • Setting a new line at the ideal height
  • • No skin excision performed
2
Complete release of existing adhesions
  • • Removal of inappropriate adhesions from high double eyelid/multiple folds
  • • Creating a foundation for the new line in a lower position
3
Precise fixation of new double eyelid line
  • • Fixing the new line at accurate height and depth
  • • Natural line applying the golden ratio for each individual
4
Upper Eyelid Fat Repositioning
  • • Preventing recurrence of adhesion at the previously high line
  • • Adding Fat Graft when upper eyelid fat is insufficient
5
Precise skin suturing
  • • Minimizing scarring with microsurgical suture technique
C
Additional Fat Graft (if needed)
When Fat Graft is necessary
  • • When upper eyelid fat itself is insufficient
  • • When upper eyelid fat repositioning alone is insufficient for volume
Fat Graft method
  • • Autologous fat harvesting (abdomen, thighs, etc.)
  • • Separating only pure fat cells through a precise purification process
  • • Micro Fat Graft in a layer deeper than the orbicularis oculi muscle

Surgical Benefits

1
Natural Line Restoration
Designing a personalized line considering the anatomical structure of the face and eyes, achieving a defined yet natural double eyelid line
2
One Clean, Single Line
Consolidating multiple ambiguous folds into one clear double eyelid
3
Prevention of Recurrence
Preventing unwanted fold adhesions through upper eyelid fat repositioning, fat graft, etc.
4
Scar Minimization & Recovery Care
Minimizing scars and providing faster recovery with micro-suture technique and systematic recovery management program
